May has arrived!

It’s one of my favorite months! We start off with Cinco de Mayo, which is perfect since Mexican food is my favorite, and who doesn’t like a margarita every now and then! The following weekend, we celebrate Mother’s Day, honoring all mothers, both those present and those remembered. We wrap up the month with Memorial Day, a time to mourn and pay tribute to our nation’s heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice, as well as to others who hold a special place in our hearts who have passed on. In Boulder, we host one of the largest running events in the world—the BolderBoulder. This 10K race draws over 50,000 participants and is always a vibrant and enjoyable community event. I may not take part this year, but I’ve been known to sign up at the last minute! All of these events feel like they mark the beginning of summer, even though summer officially starts on June 20th. In Colorado, we are cautious about putting out our flowerpots too early, as May snowstorms aren’t unheard of.

May is the start of so many personal events for me. I’m excited to celebrate my youngest son, Carson’s graduation from San Diego State. His grandparents, uncles, and aunt will join us in the festivities. The following week we will be visiting my nephew at DePaul University for his pinning ceremony. Congratulations to all graduates!
